Good Price is a unit-price calculator. You point it at a product, it works out
what the item actually costs per unit, and it tells you whether that is a good
price. This policy explains what that involves, in plain terms.
There is no account. Good Price never asks for your name, email
address, phone number, or a password, and there is nothing to sign in to.
What stays on your device
Your price history. Every price you save is stored on your
device and is never uploaded. It is the most revealing data the app holds —
a record of what you buy and when — and keeping it local is a deliberate
design guarantee, not an implementation detail that might change quietly.
Camera images. Scanning happens entirely on your device. No
photo or video frame is ever transmitted or stored.
Your installation identifier. A random value generated the
first time you open the app and kept in the device keychain. The value
itself never leaves the device; see below for what does.
Your selected store. The store you choose is remembered on
your device.
What is sent to our server
Barcodes you scan. When you scan a product, its barcode is
sent so we can look up the product's name, brand, and package size. This
happens automatically as part of scanning.
Prices you choose to save. When you save a price, that price,
the product's barcode, and the store name you typed (if any) are sent, so
the app can show local price context to you and to other people using it.
This happens only when you save — scanning alone never submits a price.
A one-way hash of your installation identifier. Used only to
spot duplicate submissions and to enforce rate limits. It is not an account,
it is not linked to your price history, and it is never stored alongside
location data.
The app version you are running.
A ZIP code, if you enter one. Used to find nearby stores so
the app can show their prices. Good Price does not request
or use your device's precise location, and never asks for location
permission.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your information.
We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other
apps or websites.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising software.
We do not collect your precise location.
We do not build a profile of you. Submitted prices are used as product and
store price data, not as a record of an individual's shopping.
Subscriptions
Good Price Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store.
Apple handles the entire purchase. We never see, receive, or
store your payment details, your Apple Account email, or your name, and there
is no Good Price account to attach a purchase to.
Your subscription status is read on your device from the App Store and is kept
on your device so the app keeps working when you have no signal. It is not sent
to our server, so our server does not know whether any particular installation
has paid.
Apple's own handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy,
not this one. Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings on your device,
under your name, then Subscriptions.
Other services we rely on
Cloudflare hosts our server. As part of delivering any web
request, Cloudflare processes network information including IP addresses.
Open Food Facts and UPCitemdb are product
databases we query by barcode to identify a scanned product.
Kroger (including Fry's) supplies live store prices. Prices
and store details from Kroger are requested at the moment you need them,
shown to you, and not stored by us — this is required by
Kroger's developer terms, and our system is built so that it cannot store
them.
These lookups send the scanned barcode, or a ZIP code, to the service in
question. They do not receive your installation identifier or your price
history.
How long data is kept
Product information is kept so that the same barcode does not have to be looked
up repeatedly. Prices that people submit are kept with a timestamp and are
labelled with how fresh they are, so an old price is never presented as a current
one. Data received from Kroger is not kept at all.
Children
Good Price is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect information from them.
Your choices
Deleting the app removes your price history and your installation
identifier from your device.
You can clear your saved price history from within the app at any time.
To ask about, or request removal of, prices submitted from your
installation, contact us at the address below. Submissions are recorded in a
way that lets them be withdrawn and any values derived from them
recalculated.
